Stories told in people's own words.
As the volunteer Media Video Manager for Neurodiversity in Business, I film and edit interviews and stories from and for the neurodiversity community. Every now and then I end up in front of the camera too.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week with Currys
For Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2023, Currys filmed me at their Oxford Street store talking about my autism diagnosis, reasonable adjustments and why one week of celebration is only the start.
“I will still be autistic on Monday morning.”

I'm Chris Sadler, I'm here at our Currys store in Oxford Street supporting Neurodiversity Celebration Week. My wife suggested that I had a lot of traits of somebody on the autistic spectrum some years ago, but it was only two years ago that I received a diagnosis via Currys. I think the only person surprised by that diagnosis was me.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is about raising awareness, but more importantly it's also about enabling and empowering those who currently do not have a voice. I'm very proud to be taking part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week and I'm also very proud of the part that Currys is playing in bringing this to life.
I'm hoping that Neurodiversity Celebration Week gives people the confidence to reach out and speak to people and engage with people irrespective of whether they're neurodivergent or neurotypical.
Society is changing. Neurodiversity Celebration Week is clear evidence of that. Currys is made up of that very society and Currys is changing as well. Me stood here is living proof of that.
I think everybody should have the confidence to be themselves and whilst I can't guarantee how you'll be treated, I've got a good feeling that you'll be treated with equality and more importantly with equity.
A part of reasonable adjustments is learning to understand each other. Very often such an adjustment will benefit everybody in the workplace, not just the person who's neurodivergent.
I would love to invent a piece of technology that could convert what people communicate into what they actually meant to convey.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is just one week. I will still be autistic on Monday morning so again this is a journey. One in seven people in society are neurodivergent. Therefore it stands logically that in Currys that will be exactly the same. So it's a continuous journey of engagement and I think this week is just a real focal point that gets the message out there.
